I’ve been on a bible reading plan to read the entire bible in a year. I’m on day 65 and so far so good. I’ve never read the entire bible and honestly I wasn’t very excited about it.  I didn’t think I’d understand a lot of it and most of the Old Testament just didn’t interest me. But God has a way of leading me right where I need to be when I need to be there. As I was reading the story of Moses, I couldn’t understand why the people kept questioning God and having no faith. He had shown them so many signs and done so much for them before it just seemed crazy.  It seems like they should just take him at his word and follow what he says. Then it dawned on me in my own life. The times I’ve had complete faith, everything has worked out. But for some reason, I’m always questioning, asking for another sign instead of just taking God at his word and believing it.

When I was in the midst of saving my marriage I never once doubted that God wanted us to have a good marriage. I just knew it in my heart and wouldn’t accept any other idea. I don’t think divorce ever “feels” right to people. We may do it because we don’t see any other alternative, but there is an alternative. That alternative is to have complete faith in God that he will restore your marriage. That doesn’t mean changing the other person, it means you taking responsibility for your marriage. Reading Gods word everyday and working on yourself. Don’t even consider it an option for your partner to change. Resolve this year that you are going to be happy with who they are, where they are. Love them where they are and be happy.  You don’t have the power to change anyone else but you. If your marriage isn’t working, resolve this year that the problem is you and fix that.

If you ask God to show you where you need help, I guarantee you he will. Just be open to what he says. You may read a book and think “wow I wish my spouse could hear that, they  really need it” – chances are you need to hear it! After praying for help, look for signs and pay attention to books or articles that cross your path. Look for your answers. Know that God is helping you, you just need to pay attention.

Let this year be the year that you have complete unwavering faith that God will fix your marriage. In Luke 11:9-10  Jesus says, “So I tell you to ask and you will receive, search and you will find, knock and the door will be opened for you. Everyone who asks will receive, everyone who searches will find, and the door will be opened for everyone who knocks.”

In this Jesus is telling us to ask, then search for the answers. Don’t ask and then sit back and expect a miracle. Ask and search, pay attention to the answers provided.

If you are reading this, perhaps you’ve already asked and this site may be part of your answer. I’d love to connect with you and offer additional books etc. that may be of help to you. Please comment or send me a private message.

May THIS year be your year of faith, hope and change!! God is for your marriage!
